Through working with thousands of veterans and their advocates, we have gained a strong understanding of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) mental health claims process. This enables us to deliver timely, collaborative appointments with effective outcomes.

We understand that the DVA claims process can be prolonged and taxing. This is front of mind for our team, and we work to make our contribution to DVA claims simple, smooth, and supportive, with the confidentiality and privacy of our clients consistently upheld.

It is our hope that all veterans leave our service feeling supported, validated, and heard.

Our Process

Developed through years of experience and active response to feedback from veterans, advocates, and DVA.

If you have questions about the process at any stage, please get in touch with our Veteran Services team. Veterans will also receive more details about our process once engaged with us.

1. GP refers veteran for a telehealth appointment with a Zed3 Psychiatrist within 4 weeks of referral. Zed3 psychiatrist sends initial treatment recommendations and provisional diagnoses back to the referring GP.

2. Once the veteran or their advocate has lodged a claim and DVA allocate for processing, they attend a telehealth appointment with a Zed3 Clinical Claims Specialist to complete the DVA paperwork (ILC/PI).

3. Zed3 Clinical Claims Specialists complete the report, inviting feedback from the veteran and their advocate. A final review is conducted on the report by a senior Zed3 Psychiatrist, before being submitted by Zed3 to DVA.

Where to Start

Z3 Referral Process
  1. For Initial Assessment requests, send a GP referral to ‘Psychiatrist, Zed Three Specialist Centre’, c/o veteranservices@zed3.com.au
  2. To have Zed3 assist with ILC/PI paperwork, note Zed Three Specialist Centre as the treating psychiatrist, as this allows us to receive your ILC/PI paperwork from your DVA delegate.
