Support for Serving ADF: Mental Health Pathways with Zed3

Serving in the Australian Defence Force demands resilience, commitment, and strength, but it can also take a toll on mental health. At Zed3, we provide dedicated mental health support for current ADF personnel navigating mental health challenges. Our specialist care is accessible, confidential, and clinically overseen by professionals with extensive backgrounds treating those who have experienced the unique pressures of military service.

ADF

Serving ADF Members

This page is dedicated to current Defence Force members across the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Whether you're managing stress, trauma, PTSD, depression, or complex mental health needs related to service, Zed3 recognises the specific challenges you face. Our team is experienced in working with current serving personnel, ensuring you receive coordinated, specialist care without disruption to your service commitments.
We recognise that seeking mental health support while serving requires confidentiality, flexibility, and understanding of military culture. Zed3 provides that environment—where you can access evidence-based treatment without judgment, with clinicians who respect the context of your service.

Psychologists & Psychiatric Assessments

Families & Carers

Defence service impacts entire families. Partners, children, and carers often navigate Defence health systems on behalf of serving members, managing the ripple effects of deployment stress, trauma exposure, and operational demands. Zed3 welcomes family-based involvement and offers support resources for those supporting ADF personnel. We understand that family wellbeing is integral to a serving member's recovery and resilience.

GPs and psychiatrists working with ADF members can confidently refer to Zed3 knowing we accept referrals, work collaboratively with Defence Health networks, and provide specialist pathways including psychiatry, psychology, and infusion therapy.

Funding & Eligibility

Funding & Eligibility

Understanding funding pathways helps remove barriers to accessing the mental health care you need as a serving ADF member:

01

Defence and DVA Funded Services

When Zed3 receives a referral from Defence, all costs are covered by Defence with no out-of-pocket expense to the serving member. For non-Defence funded referrals, services are typically covered by the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), again at no cost to the member or veteran. Zed3 handles all billing directly with the relevant government department.

02

Open Arms Services

Free counselling and support services are available through Open Arms for serving ADF members and families. While Open Arms provides counselling, Zed3 can complement this with specialist psychiatric care, medication management, and advanced therapies when clinically indicated.

03

Referral Requirements

Most services require a referral from your GP, military medical officer, or treating psychiatrist. Detailed referral and documentation information is available on our clinic-wide Fees, Rebates & Referrals page.
