Understanding fees, rebates, and referral requirements helps you plan for your care at Zed3. We operate as a private billing practice located at Calvary Clinic in Canberra, with Medicare and DVA rebates available for eligible services. This page provides clear information about consultation costs, payment methods, rebate processes, and referral requirements for psychology, psychiatry and youth & child mental health services.

Several rebate pathways can significantly reduce out-of-pocket costs for mental health treatment at Zed3:
Medicare rebates are available for eligible psychology, psychiatry, and paediatric services. The rebate amount varies depending on:
• Service type (psychology vs psychiatry)
• Session length and complexity
• Whether you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan (for psychology)
Patients with a GP Mental Health Care Plan can access Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year. Standard rebates are approximately $93.35-$137.05 per session depending on session length and clinician qualification.
Medicare rebates apply. Initial consultations and follow-up appointments both attract Medicare rebates.
These attract Medicare rebates where referral and eligibility criteria are met, reducing costs for families.
Eligible veterans and serving ADF members may access mental health services with no out-of-pocket costs where DVA funding applies.
For detailed DVA claim support, documentation requirements, and eligibility information, visit our DVA Claim Support page.
Some private health insurance policies provide rebates for psychology and psychiatry services. Coverage varies significantly between funds and policy levels. We recommend contacting your insurer directly to confirm coverage before your appointment. Zed3 can provide itemised receipts for your insurance claim.
Zed3 can provide clinical reports, medical certificates, letters, and other documentation when clinically appropriate and requested.
Contact the Practice Manager to request reports or letters. Requests should specify the purpose, required content, and any deadlines.
Fees for reports and letters depend on complexity and time required to prepare. Complex medico-legal reports, and comprehensive assessments typically incur higher fees than standard medical certificates. Report fees are payable when the report is collected and are not eligible for Medicare rebates. You will receive a quote for the report prior to the Clinician commencing work.
Standard reports are typically completed within 7-14 business days. Complex reports may require 3-4 weeks. Urgent requests may be accommodated where possible but may incur additional fees.
A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required for appointment cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer your appointment time to other patients waiting for care.
Late cancellations (less than 48 hours' notice) or failure to attend scheduled appointments may incur a cancellation fee. This fee reflects the reserved clinical time and is not eligible for Medicare or insurance rebates. The fee amount varies by service type and clinician.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact reception as soon as possible on 02 6109 8830 or via email at reception@zed3.com.au.
