Dr Edna Lekgabe is a psychiatrist committed to delivering collaborative, evidence-based mental health care, with a focus on comprehensive psychiatric assessments. Her approach is centred on developing a clear understanding of each person’s experiences, enabling them to feel informed, supported, and confident in their care. She takes a holistic view, considering the interplay between individual history, environment, and life transitions.
With an emphasis on early identification and prevention, she provides thorough assessments that inform personalised treatment planning, including careful consideration of psychological, social, and biological factors and the appropriate use of medication.
She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Monash University, a Master of Psychiatry and a PhD from the University of Melbourne, and a Diploma from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She completed specialist training across The Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Royal Children’s Hospital, The Royal Women’s Hospital, and Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
